In 11 days I am going to do something insane! Very insane! But let me back up. 2 years ago, I started running with the sole purpose of running my very first half marathon at Disney. So in January of 2010 I began the couch to 5K program and slowly worked myself up to a 5K. I then trained for a 10K in May and then began training for the Walt Disney World half marathon in January 2011. And from the moment I crossed the starting line, I. was. hooked!
There is nothing like a runDisney event! Nothing compares. There is something so magical about the whole weekend and Disney does a fantastic job with it. From the Expo, to the transportation to and from the starting line, to all the characters and volunteers out of the course. It hardly felt like I ran 13.1 miles! It was over before I knew it and had me craving more.

And now, this is what I covet.

All three medals in one weekend. That’s right, in 11 short days, I will be registering myself and my husband for the 2013 Goofy Challenge! For those of you who do not know about the madness that I am about to get myself into. Here is the gist of it. In order to complete the Goofy Race and a Half Challenge, you will first run the Walt Disney World Half Marathon on Saturday (13.1 miles) and then run the Walt Disney World Full Marathon on Sunday (26.2 miles) for a total of 39.3 miles in two day! How awesome is that!

And to top it off, this is the 20th anniversary of the Walt Disney World Marathon so I am sure there will be a special Marathon medal and they are already teasing us about a spectacular surprise at mile 20. Wonder what it could be? Hmmmm, Beer? Mickey Ears Chocolate Ice Cream? Turkey Leg?

So who is with me? Who will be joining in on this madness with me? I know I have about 500 close friends on Facebook that will be with me that weekend running either the half, full or both!  As you all know I am also a Disney Travel Agent, and anyone that books their Disney Marathon Weekend Trip through me, I will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Here is a copy of the schedule of events as posted on runDisney. Hope to see you out on the course!
